I started driving a truck at 21. I enjoy being able to see different states but one thing I learned in three years is that no matter where you go you are by yourself because cars don't respect truckers and even other truckers don't respect you. I've hauled cattle for a year in a half until I was seriously hurt. I was kicked in the face by a 1800 pound cow and that ended my cow hauling career. If someone is looking to get there cdl I encourage it if your single but getting into it while having a family it will be rough but I wish all new drivers the best and be safe because it ain't no picnic.
