Trailer Inspection CDL Test </h3>

TRAILER FRONT </h4>

Air/Electrical Connections </h4>

<li>Check that trailer air connectors are sealed and free from damage. </li>
<li>Make sure glad hands are locked in place, free of damage or air leaks. </li>
<li>Make sure the trailer electrical plug is firmly seated and locked in place. </li>

Header Board </h4>

<ul>
<li>If equipped, check the header board to see that it is secure, free of damage, and strong enough to contain cargo. </li>
<li>If equipped, the canvas or tarp carrier must be mounted and fastened securely. </li>
<li>On enclosed trailers, check the front area for signs of damage such as cracks, bulges, or holes. </li>

SIDE OF TRAILER </h4>

Landing Gear </h4>

<li>Check that the landing gear is fully raised, has no missing parts, crank handle is secure, and the support frame is not damaged. </li>
<li>If power operated, check for air or hydraulic leaks. </li>

Doors/Ties/Lifts </h4>

<ul>
<li>If equipped, check that doors are not damaged. Check that doors open, close, and latch properly from the outside. </li>
<li>Check that ties, straps, chains, and binders are secure. </li>
<li>If equipped with a cargo lift, look for leaking, damaged or missing parts and explain how it should be checked for correct operation. </li>
<li>Lift should be fully retracted and latched securely. </li>

Look for cracks, broken welds, holes or other damage to the frame, cross members, box, and floor. </div>

CDL College is proud to participate in a Truck Safety Campaign with the Colorado State Patrol. We provided the semi-truck for the State Patrol's ride along demonstration with news crews to demonstrate a truckers view of the busy Denver, CO streets. CDL College instructor Steve Heany is driving the truck while Colorado State Trooper Robert Lew Thomas is providing the commentary.<br />
<br />
Colorado State Patrol is working to lower crashes with trucks and buses, and at the same time increase safety. The enforcement is part of Operation Safe Driver Week.<br />
<br />
Colorado State Patrol and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration are putting emphasis on driving safely with large trucks and buses.<br />

DMV provides licensing services for the citizens of Colorado. People can obtain identification cards, driver licenses, vehicle registrations, titles, and other items. Their new website makes finding needed information fast and easy. Colorado did a great job with their new, modern design. They will receive a restriction on their license. Colorado places a K restriction on their CDL. The K restricts them to intra-state commerce. A person with a K restriction on their CDL cannot cross state lines. The restriction will be lifted when they turn 21.</div>

We see many people under 21 at CDL College. These CDL drivers find jobs. They may end up working in the oil industry, or as a hostler at Food Distribution company.
